Welcome - What is our Monthly Bead Bag?

Rather a "Bead of the Month Club" (BOMC), or such limited enjoyment, we are offering BEAD BAG of the month club, no fancy acronyms --- yet!

The concept is simple, when people pool their resources, they can get more value for their dollar, and participate in things that would otherwise be unavailable to them -- such as taking advantage of bulk or wholesale-only lots.

We don't have the flier on-line yet, because it's still being tweaked (and each printing is a tad different), and somehow old graphic and pdf files tend to stay around longer than they should. We'd be happy to mail one to you if you send us your USMail address. Once we finalize the flier, we'll try to get it on-line in PDF so you can print it out.

From a post on another forum, some edited information:
  1. I'm working on an option (due to popular requests) that would extend the time between shipments to 3 months, quarterly, and still let you budget monthly. Shipping is a big expense, and because of that, the break even point seems to be about $30 per shipment, before the shipping starts to affect the perceived "value" of the goods. (Those of you who do a lot of mail order know what I mean.)
  2. "Free" shipping is a cost that is hidden in the price you pay for the items. I always prefer to list shipping separate from any cost-of-goods.
  3. There are two options $30 and $50, and then the $30/quarter. I have more details on my site http://betterbeads.com and details, features and pictures of items acquired will be posted as available.
  4. Because of the nature of the buying concern, there will be very little "extra" packages each month, since what is bought, is what is already paid for. Of course, I'll be buying for my shop, so some items will be available (my benefit is I also get to participate in the group buying, usually making up the difference.)
  5. I don't expect to "break even" on this, but it's a way to increase my stores inventory and selection at the same time, and hopefully make it up on the retail side.
  6. Example: (one I had to pass on), 30 people are in the club, and a deal for aquamarines comes up. They are $80/strand (normally $150 wholesale), but I need to buy 3 strands to get the value price. There are 18 beads per strand, or 56 beads in the minimum order, of $240. That is beyond most people's needs, or budget. But, one bead for $5-6 is affordable. Depending on the quality, there would be one or two beads of that type in the bead bag that month. Buying 5 strands, I might get a $70 price, which would increase the value, by allowing 3 beads in each bag, at $5 each, for what are $12-$16 beads average retail. If you didn't like the beads, you'd be able to swap them for something significant you did want ;)
  7. If I get the software working, I might even offer a "VIP" option, which will allow you to fill up your bead bag from items being acquired, and custom tailor it to your likes. There will often be more choices per month than will fill up a bag (remember, there are 30, 50, and a couple of special-arraangement $100 bags), so you'll be able to pick the items you prefer, and move them into your on-line bag. We'll probably use "bead points" which will losely match $ value.
  8. ?
