Holiday Bead Swap? Can't Post

Is there any interest in a Holiday Bead Swap?

This would be for gemstones, and higher-end glass/bone/etc beads (not plastic, or seed beads). (We could do a separate seed-bead exchange if people are interested)

We can do this in one of several ways.

1) A date for an in-store bead echange, where you can bring your beads, and swap on your own with others. What would be a good day?

2) An organized swap, where you sign up (here or in the store) and create/gather/make/assort whatever, bead bags with a *real* value of about $20 each. You drop them off at the shop before Dec 20th, and on Dec 22nd, 23rd and 24th (Christmas Eve is a Sunday, so We'll be open until 3pm), you can come by, and pick up *YOUR* bead bags. If you bring in 3 bags, you'll get 3 bags. If you bring in 5 bags, you'll get 5 bags. Please, while some of you have thousands of dollars in excess beads Angelic, limit it to 10 bags -- and remember to keep the *value* at about $20. Please put your name (and if you have an email address) in each bag, so the person getting it can say "Thanks."

NOTE: For the in store type bead exchange putting a dollar amount on the beads is not really necessary, since it's what YOU are willing to trade for what someone else is willing to trade for. If you are happy with the trade, it doesn't matter if your beads cost $80 and what you got only cost of $50. If the VALUE to you both was equal, then it was a fair trade. The idea is to TRADE (fairly) for something you want, or need. Maybe those $20 carved bone beads just don't do it for you the way you thought they would, but someone else has some stunning red jasper you just have to have. See? That's how it works :)

NOTE 2: For the "Bead Bag" exchange, a dollar amount is _necessary_ since it's the only real measure we have for a "blind" exchange. This isn't a way to get rid of "Junk" beads. It is a fun way to freshen up your bead selection in the holiday spirit.

Please comment.

Also..... this is really for those in the Pittsburgh area, who can come into the store to drop off, pick up, or meet with others. We realize we have a lot of people in remote areas, and other states who read this forum, or stop by occasionally. If you want to participate, but can't make it to the store before the holidays, you can mail us your bead bags, and we'll hold your bags until you stop by to pick them up -- even if it's not until spring. Just make sure they arrive by the 20th.
