Advertising and Marketing Can't Post

We see it everywhere.

We know it's important, to "Sell yourself."

But we always seem to put it off to the last minute. Or put it off completely.

I've been violating some of the major marketing rules of sales lately, and I have to bring things back in line. People should never leave your booth or shop, or party or even a discussion about your work, empty handed. A crisp business card (meaning it was in some sort of case), a flier or similar needs to be in their hand.

You should have one general promotional flier, and several smaller ones targted to your various specific products, items, or special services.

"Getting the word out" is prime importance.

Presenting an image for your products is also important. How do they stand on their own merit, and if there is a lot of similar stuff, how they are different. Highlight the important, or better points of your work. If you double crimp, and hide the edges inside a bead, then say so, and something like "... it adds style to the finished appearance, while increasing strength and durability for everyday wear."

Don't sell yourself short, but don't "hype" it up either. People can read through the hype, and while adding some excitment to your fliers and promotions is OK, in the end, it's the quality or desirability of your product that will bring them in, or bring them back.

That is what you need to stress, and promote.
