What's New, What's On the Way Can't Post

The summer is ending, and hasn't gone quite as we had planned. Do things ever?

We'd like to thank everyone again who offered support, prayers or eyeballs when our daughter went missing; there really are no words for it, so I won't attempt to find any except: Thank You.

Once the back to school madness is over, we hope to finally bring our Bead Brunches to the table. Rather than try to manipulate soup, salad or sandwich with pliers, crimps, and findings, we are looking at a Show & Tell, and Bead Exchange format. You can bring your works finished or in progress, show them off, get new ideas, and trade/exchange beads. We feel this is a better format for an informal gathering, than trying to work on a project. But, we'll take it as it goes. After a few brunches, maybe we'll be ready for something more!

Marie has been busy. The past few weeks have been rough for her, and she's directed her stress into trying new beading projects. We'll have a lot of interesting ready-made jewelry for gifts, and a lot of new techniques to show off. We'll be setting up more in-store displays with ideas for using our beads, and beads you may have in your stash already.

I don't want to jinx us, but the new roof seems to actually be holding up, and the leaks that have plagued us for the past 2 years may finally be fixed. We are taking the chance, and starting to unpack, uncrate, and make use of the space we had blocked off.

We are again rearranging the store, now that we have some of the "wet" space back. As we settle in to each rearrangement, we see new possibilities for making things better. This next rearrangement should allow for nicer, better lit working areas for the beads and roks, as well as a separate area for the dollhouses, woodworking, and the other things we do.

The classroom area may finally get open as well, but not in the first phase, as that is the "open hole" in the slider puzzle of our rearrangement.

Beads are a great way to add color and excitement to a party or event. If you want a bead booth, or activity station set up at your party or event, contact Marie. Times are filling up fast, and that space before the holidays is getting tight. Beading can be done indoors or out (weather permitting), and everyone gets a take-home item (or two) as well as skills they can use on other items. The memories and take-home project are much longer lasting than a handful of tokens or tickets, and often a LOT less expensive!

Fundraising: This is a big fundraising season. Ask us how beaded projects can help your group generate a real income, with items that are useful, personalized, and fun to make. We can help you with a one-time promotion, a regular promotion (such as football games, or an on-going enterprise for junior business groups or clubs and organizations that need funds all through the year. Beads don't spoil or get stale, they have an infinite shelf life, and you can make up items long before they get sold without them going bad. We can help you control inventory costs, and help you build your skills. Why pay a national company half (or more!) of your proceeds, when you can keep all the profits, and set your own price points, and products that sell to YOUR customer base!

Health, Happiness, and Prayers for those suffering the aftermath of Katrina.
