Silver prices -- preorder deals Can't Post

The progress in our shop is continuing.

We make a little more room every day.

Our work area is very popular, and most days we have at least 1 or two people sitting and working on projects at different times.

We have restocked on a variety of colors of Swarovski crystals in 3mm, 4mm and 6mm bicones. Prices are up a tad, but isn't everything.

On a positive note, with pre-election falling gas prices, the price of silver and gold also dropped (they are tied to oil and politics). If you
want to place an order for our standard silver (rounds, fluted, silver wire, lobster claws, crimps, etc) this is the time!

Silver prices are under $12, and that means the prices are LOWER than many catalog prices are showing.

We plan on restocking with silver this week, and if you want specific silver items, please EMAIL me before Tuesday, as our order will go in
early tuesday for Friday delivery.

We have not made a bali order in awhile.

With prices settling, we are looking at doing that.

If you want to pre-order sliver, or are looking for specific styles please email me and let me know. This order probably will not go in until this
week or next. But, please don't wait, as the date of the order will be determined by our manufacturer's pricing. You can pre-order silver by the
gram in increments of 50 grams and up. You can lock in this under-$12 price

ALL PREORDERS that purchase at least 100 grams, will get a LOCKED IN $0.99/gram price! There is no limit, and we offer this in 100, 250, 500, 1 and 3kg sizes.

You use your silver card like a gift card, except instead of dollars, it is counted in grams.

You can pick up your silver in the store from any in-stock bali, in any quantity 10 grams or more.

We have not offered the $0.99 price in months, since about march, and we are not planning on making it available in the shop yet (unless prices fall under $10 again).

So lock this pre-order price in!

If you use silver, you can't beat this offer!

Silver prices are down again, but until tomorrow's close, the price won't affect most orders. Rather than daily price setting, most places have chosen to use Friday's close, as the "settled" price.

Like mid day highs or lows, mid week highs or lows are not as strong an indicator as a Friday close, when people are going to sleep on it for a few days. I guess.

If prices go down again, this friday, we'll place another order for standard silver items, such as wire, rounds, lobster/spring clasps, head pins, and such. Bulk earwires are another good item to stock up on while prices are down, as the bulk prices can be a huge swing. They should be back to .16-.25 per pair, depending on style and weight. (They have been 21.-.35 ppr.)

Yes, prices vary, between suppliers and manufacturers, and for loads of other reasons. We try to carry a reasonably good quality, and try to balance price/quality, opting ALWAYS for quality over price.

22 ga ear wires can be ok for a few pearls or crystals, but any significant weight of beads can make them uncomfortable, and prone to ripping the ear.

21 ga ear wires are a bit thicker, and can be used for most light to medium weight earrings. This is our standard size.

20 ga ear wires are heavier, and obviously (visually) more substantial. They are better for the larger, and weightier multi strand chandaliers and such. They spread the weight in the ear a little better, and their larger size makes them less prone to ripping. We much prefer these, and use them on our higher-end items (with Swarovski and silver).

19 ga ear wires are harder to find (stock, but you can make your own) and are more comfortable in general, like the 20 ga, and are less prone to ripping. Most people's holes are large enough (simply from time) to use them, and they spread the weight better. We have a limited selection, often they are straight shaft, you put your own loop on the end. They have a weight of their own, which helps balance the jewelry, and often come in shapes such as triangles, or loops to complement the jewelry, rather than the simple French wire straight.

While the above is a guide, the bottom line is that using the thinner, cheaper ear wires is *NOT* a good thing. for a few pennies more per pair, you can offer better quality and more comfort to your customers -- or safer more comfortable wearing to yourself.

We don't normally stock anything under 21 gauge for that reason.

And yes, at 1000 pieces (500 pr) in bulk, each penny is $10, but difference *IS* significant (and FWIW the ball and coil provide a much more secure closure, not only decoration). We do offer "bulk" pricing to customers who purchase 200+ pieces (100 pair and up), so you can cash in on savings without breaking your bank.

Oh, and we usually only carry the flattened ball+coil style. Why? Not only do people seem to like the flattened better, and the ball/coil provide more security, if you don't want the coil and/or flattened, and/or ball, why aren't you making your OWN ear wires?? All you need is wire and a jig. You can put a ball on it. (You can make your own coils too, but that starts to be more work than purchasing them already made that way.) All you need is an inexpensive (under $10 jig) and some FULL HARD wire. Savings can be significant, and you control the size, shape and quality every time.
