Record Profit by Exxon-Moble Can't Post

Just in case you missed it, since only two hours after it's release it's already rolled off the headlines in wake of Miers, 2000 deaths in Iraq, and hurricane and earthquake and bird flu stories.

But, despite all the hardships the rest of the world and New Orleans and the Gulf Coast have suffered, it's nice to see that with an oilman in the White House, Exxon Moble has turned in the largest quarterly profit for a US Company in history. $3.00 gas prices were really necessary, weren't they.

At a time when huge segments of our own, as well as the world's, population is trying to make ends meet, and millions upon millions of people are recovering in the wake of natural disasters that have torn up their lives, their homes and cities, and the very ground they live on, it's so nice to see that huge companies can still turn a profit on their misery.

I have not bought Exxon gas since the Valdez incident , but that is just me. It really doesn't matter much any more, since they are like one big company, passing gas and oil between them as needed. I need to drive, and I have to use gas. Still, it's nice to know that I didn't contribute to this immoral, obscene and black-eye to humanity directly.

I, we, know most of you by face, or emails, and we know what kind of people you are.

None of you are happy to see this. I posted this here because they burried this story, and I thought you should see it. I didn't want to get you upset, or angry. It's not me, or this message, it's the fact that one (the others have not reported profits yet) oil company in the midsts of rising costs and decreasing use, and world disaster was able to profiteer and rake in the biggest profit ever on human misery and suffering -- claiming they had no choice to but raise prices!! Obviously, they did not need to raise prices, but took the opportunity to do so. Greed. Avarice. Insensitivity.

That "profit" is YOUR MONEY!!! They lied, cheated, and stole it from you.

I know this won't die, and the reporters have already hinted that calls for a Windfall Profits Tax are in the works.

I urge you to call your congressman, write to them, send letters to the white house, and whatever else you can do to get this tax in place ASAP. The money needs to go to relief efforts, not oil man profits.

People in New Orleans, in earthquake-ravaged Asia, and still in Indonesia need relief and help rebuilding.

People in our own country need food, shelter, and clothing for winter.

Yet, with stories of record home heating oil prices, and more high gas prices, the Oil Companies are sitting pretty, and laughing at us.

Gas is at $2.75 a gallon, and Exxon Moble raked in almost 10 BILLION IN PROFIT in 3 months.

How well did you do these past 3 months?

Here's the MSNBC article, it will get you mad.

In this article, a comment on 100 billion in quarterly sales

Quote
To put Exxon's performance into perspective, its third quarter revenue was greater than the annual gross domestic product of some of the largest oil producing nations, including the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. The world's largest publicly traded oil company also set a U.S. profit record with net income of almost $10 billion, according to Standard & Poor's equity market analyst Howard Silverblatt.
